A RESOLUTION


Honoring Dr. Bruce Stuart Allen on the occasion of his appointment as the first Honorary Consul of the Principality of Liechtenstein; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on May 15, 2007, in the Liechtenstein capital city of Vaduz, both His Serene Highness Alois von und zu Liechtenstein, the Hereditary Prince of the Principality of Liechtenstein on behalf of His Serene Highness Hans-Adam II, the Ruling Prince of Liechtenstein, and His Excellency Otmar Hasler, Prime Minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein, signed an order naming State of Georgia resident, Dr. Bruce Stuart Allen as the first Honorary Consul of the Principality of Liechtenstein in history; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Allen's Bibb County home is officially registered with the United States State Department as both the first official Consulate and Consular Residence for Liechtenstein in the world; and

WHEREAS, on July 9, 2007, at a formal credentialing ceremony in Macon, Georgia, Her Excellency Rita Kieber-Beck, the Liechtenstein Minister of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Her Excellency Claudia Fritsche, the Liechtenstein Ambassador to the United States of America, and by His Excellency Roland Marxer, the Director of the Office of Foreign Affairs for the Principality of Liechtenstein, officially presented Dr. Allen with both the document appointing him and with the United States State Department identification recognizing him as Honorary Consul of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the Southern and Southeastern United States of America; and

WHEREAS, since the inauguration of Dr. Allen, the government of Liechtenstein has established three other consulates in the world – one in Los Angeles, California and two in Germany; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Allen and the citizens of Georgia are very honored that the Principality of Liechtenstein has seen fit to choose him and the State of Georgia to be the first Consul and Consulate established in the glorious history of Liechtenstein; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this momentous occasion be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body honor and commend Dr. Bruce Stuart Allen and congratulate him upon his appointment as Honorary Consul of the Principality of Liechtenstein to the Southern and Southeastern United States of America.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Bruce Stuart Allen.
