RESOLUTION
Commending
the Bremen Police Department; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the officers of the Bremen Police Department are highly regarded by the citizens
of their community and state and by local government officials as officers of
unquestioned integrity and dedication to the sound principles of law
enforcement; and
WHEREAS,
Officer Joseph Alexander, Lieutenant Blane Cochran, and Chief Keith Pesnell of
the Bremen Police Department played a vital role in capturing the man who
attempted to kidnap seven-year-old Brittney Baxter; and
WHEREAS,
Officer Alexander distributed the pictures of the suspect to Georgia State
Patrol Officer SFC Wade Chaffin; and
WHEREAS,
Lt. Cochran contacted Chief Scott Worthy of the Tallapoosa Police Department to
show him the video of the attack which eventually led to the arrest of the
suspect not even hours later; and
WHEREAS,
the quick thinking, successful training, and experience of Officer Alexander,
Lt. Cochran, and Chief Pesnell as well as their determination to bring the
attacker to justice brought an end to the potentially life-threatening situation
faced by Brittney Baxter; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that this body recognize the extraordinary
accomplishments of the Bremen Police Department.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the Bremen Police Department for their courageous actions and selfless
dedication.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Bremen Police
Department.
