RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the 2012 Georgia Cotton Queens; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
cotton has long been recognized as a vital and prosperous crop in the State of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the cotton industry has played a significant role in the economic growth and
development of our state; and
WHEREAS,
the annual Miss Georgia Cotton Scholarship Pageant promotes Georgia cotton
through local, state, regional, and national activities and educates Georgia's
youth on the importance of cotton as part of this state's economy by providing
committed volunteers, leaders, and spokeswomen; and
WHEREAS,
since its creation nine years ago, the Georgia Cotton Queen Scholarship Pageant
has been open to all females, regardless of race, national origin, or
disability; and
WHEREAS,
the pageant winners for 2012 included Avagrace Paulk, Libbie Reynolds,
Kylie-Shaye Dean, Bryanna Brock, Kinley Pridgen, Meredith Culpepper, Madison
Barber, and Erica Tucker; and
WHEREAS,
it is only fitting and proper that these beautiful, intelligent, and talented
winners be recognized by this body.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
the 2012 Georgia Cotton Queens for promoting the importance of this agricultural
product of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to each Georgia Cotton Queen.
