A
RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Buford High School softball team on winning their fourth consecutive GHSA
Class AA State Championship; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
through perseverance and iron determination, the Buford High School softball
team earned the top ranking in the state with a 6-2 victory over Union County
High School; and
WHEREAS,
the Lady Wolves dominated their opponents all season with timely hitting, clutch
pitching, and nearly flawless defense, and their amazing state title win places
them as only the second team in Georgia history to win four consecutive state
championships; and
WHEREAS,
the 2010 state championship team included Bailey Burnette, Kallie Case, Cara
Cole, Melissa Dickie, Karly Fullem, Aly Hicks, Lanae Hodnett, Lexi Overstreet,
Lanier Paul, Mickala Price, Lindsey Puckett, Kodi Ricketson, Rebekah Rude, Noah
Sudderth, Chelsie Thomas, Whitney Wolfe, and Madison Wynegar; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; and
WHEREAS,
Lady Wolves of the All Region 6-AA First Team include Kallie Case, Melissa
Dickie, Karly Fullem, Lexi Overstreet, and Chelsie Thomas while Second Team
honors went to Kodi Ricketson, Rebekah Rude, Whitney Wolfe, and Madison Wynegar;
and
WHEREAS,
Chelsie Thomas was named County Defensive Player of the Year by the Gwinnett
Diamond Club and the club's First Team All County included Kallie Case, Melissa
Dickie, Karly Fullem, and Lexi Overstreet, with Second Team members Kodi
Ricketson and Whitney Wolfe; and
WHEREAS,
the team's spectacular season reflects the astute guidance and direction of
their talented coaches and the support of their many fans; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the 2010 Buford High School softball team for winning
their fourth consecutive GHSA Class AA State Championship and extend to them
best wishes on all their future athletic endeavors.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Head Coach
Tony Wolfe.
