RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Earnest "Jack" Ingram; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Earnest "Jack" Ingram was born on November 16, 1918, in Sparta, Georgia, the
second of seven children of Boysie and Mattie Mae Ingram; and
WHEREAS,
a courageous and honorable man, Mr. Ingram defended this great nation with his
service in the United States armed forces during World War II; and
WHEREAS,
a hard-working and loving man, Mr. Ingram is one of Sparta's leading black
businessmen, working as manager and funeral director at Ingram Brothers Funeral
Home, where he has been employed since 1946; and
WHEREAS,
for over three decades, this driven Georgian was the owner and operator of
Ingram's Laundromat; and
WHEREAS,
this devout man is an active member of Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church,
devoting his time to serve as chairman emeritus of the Deacons' Ministry;
and
WHEREAS,
known for his kindhearted and easygoing demeanor, Mr. Ingram selflessly
contributes to his community and neighbors, serving at one time as deputy
sheriff and assisting others as a mentor for many different organizations
throughout Hancock County, this state, and the nation; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ingram was united in love and marriage for over 52 years to the late Claudia
Mae Devereaux-Ingram, and the two were blessed with the love of their child, the
late Yvonne Ingram-Ephraim; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Georgian has given inspiration to many through his high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and he possesses the
vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character
which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ingam is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation
for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example he has
made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is
only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of his life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate Mr. Earnest "Jack" Ingam on the wonderful occasion of his
90th birthday and commend him for his many decades of caring devotion to his
family and community.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Earnest
"Jack" Ingam.
