RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Andrea Scruggs on the occasion of her retirement; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Andrea Scruggs has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for
the vital role that she has played in the teaching profession and her deep
personal commitment to the education of the students of Georgia;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Scruggs has dedicated an amazing 43 years molding young minds and
challenging students to achieve their utmost potential through her work in the
field of education; and
WHEREAS,
she has earned a bachelor's degree in education, a master's degree in
exceptional children, a specialist degree, certification from the National
Institute of Learning Disabilities, and has trained for Orton-Gillingham and
Gesell; and
WHEREAS,
since 1970, Mrs. Scruggs has been committed to the education of children in
Georgia, serving as an instructor in several schools in the Savannah-Chatham
area and at the greater Atlanta area schools of Hawthorne Elementary, Stone
Mountain Christian, and Providence, Lovett, and Loganville Christian Academies;
and
WHEREAS,
a native of Savannah, Mrs. Scruggs has earned many accolades and honors in
recognition of her dedicated service to the field of education, including an
Impact Award, a Performance Award, and an Exemplary Award from International
Learning Solutions; and
WHEREAS,
she has enriched and improved the lives of countless future leaders, including
the gentleman from the 103rd District for the Georgia House of Representatives,
Mr. David Casas; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Scruggs has been blessed with three remarkable daughters and she will enjoy
her well-deserved retirement with her many delightful grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
her passion for uplifting the lives of others through education and her unique
gift of finding a balance between high academic expectations and genuine concern
and care for her students serve as an example for all educators;
and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of her contributions to the students in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Mrs. Andrea Scruggs for her over four
decades of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of
education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives
and futures of countless young people in this state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Andrea
Scruggs.
