RESOLUTION
Honoring
and celebrating the 80th birthday of Mr. Mike Kooyman; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Mike Kooyman was born in Gates Mills, Ohio, on August 22, 1928, the beloved
son of Adrianus and Jantje Kooyman; and
WHEREAS,
after he graduated from Kirtland High School in Ohio, where he was named "most
likely to succeed," he attended Ohio State University and graduated in 1952 with
a pre-law and business degree; and
WHEREAS,
the high school appellation was fitting, as evidenced by his illustrious career
which began as a Production Manager for TRW; and
WHEREAS,
in 1965 he joined Reliance Electric as Plant Manager in Cleveland, Ohio, later
being promoted to Reliance's Athens, Georgia, facility as Operations Manager;
and
WHEREAS,
the entire Kooyman family loved their new home in Athens, also developing their
long-lasting dedication to and support for the University of Georgia and the
fighting Bulldogs; and
WHEREAS,
he has been lovingly united in marriage to Ruth Turrin for 53 years and the two
have been blessed with a son, Mark, and a daughter, Holly Beth; and
WHEREAS,
this great University of Georgia Bulldog fan and supporter has been enjoying his
retirement years in Athens, Georgia, where he gardens, refinishes furniture,
raises bantam chickens, and collects old cars; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and determination; and by the example he has
made of his life, he makes this world a better place in which to live; and it is
only fitting and proper that he be appropriately recognized during this very
special and memorable time of his life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that Mr. Mike Kooyman
is hereby congratulated on the wonderful occasion of his 80th birthday and
commended for his many decades of caring devotion to his family and fellow
citizens.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Mike
Kooyman.
