A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ronald and Virginia Starling on the occasion of their 75th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ronald and Virginia Starling were united in love and marriage on July 11, 1936, and will be celebrating their 75th wedding anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Starling's 75 year union and unyielding loyalty and devotion to one another serve as an inspiration to their family, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ronald Starling was born on February 7, 1918, in Bryan County, Georgia, to proud parents Sammie William Starling and Elizabeth Purvis Starling; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Virginia Starling was born on April 6, 1920, in Bulloch County, Georgia, the beloved daughter of Thomas Watson Kicklighter and Lessie Latzak Kicklighter; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Starling served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Navy, valiantly and courageously protecting fellow Americans during World War II; and

WHEREAS, after his service to this nation, the Starlings moved to Bulloch County, Georgia, where Mr. Starling established Starling Plumbing and Electrical, and Mrs. Starling worked as a homemaker; and

WHEREAS, the couple moved with their family to a farm in the Bay district of Bulloch County in the 1940s and have resided on the family farm ever since; and

WHEREAS, a couple with deep and abiding faith, the Starlings are faithful members of Lawrence Baptist Church, where Mr. Starling has attended all his life and Mrs. Starling became a member in 1937; and
WHEREAS, their greatest accomplishments are their three children, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, known for their generosity and kindness, Mr. and Mrs. Starling have made the world a better place in which to live with many incredible contributions to their family, community, and state; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. and Mrs. Starling be congratulated on their many years of happiness and their magnificent 75 year commitment to each other.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Ronald and Virginia Starling on the grand occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for many more happy years together.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Starling.
