A RESOLUTION

Commending Mrs. Alberta Cummings; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Alberta Cummings was born on April 26, 1912, in Richmond Hill, Georgia, the beloved daughter of Eddie and Ella Shuman Shipman, and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her 99th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cummings has been blessed with a remarkable daughter, Lagirtha Jones, and 13 grandchildren, the late Freddie Jones, the late Sinclair Jones, the late Cathedia Rose Jones, the late Alberta Bass Jones, the late Johnnie Lee Jones, Hector Jones, Deborah Simmons Jones, Eric Jones, Anita Cardenas Jones, Pamela Thomas Jones, Robert Dwight Jones, Cassandra Ramos Jones, and Charlotte Jones; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which her family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, an elegant beautician, Mrs. Cummings enjoys cooking and arranging flowers; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cummings possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges of life; and

WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, a kind and generous woman, Mrs. Cummings brings joy and happiness to her many friends, neighbors, and family members who have the great pleasure of knowing her; and
WHEREAS, by the example Mrs. Cummings has made of her life, she makes this world a better place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mrs. Alberta Cummings for her loving and dedicated service to the members of her family and the citizens of her community, congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her 99th birthday, and extend to her best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Alberta Cummings.
