RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending James and Meredith Holt on the occasion of their 50th wedding
anniversary; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
James and Meredith Holt were united in love and marriage on December 27, 1961,
in Ohio, and will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Holt's 50 year union and unyielding loyalty and devotion to one
another serve as an inspiration to their family, friends, and neighbors;
and
WHEREAS,
they have been blessed with the love of their two children, Doug Holt and Jill
Cook, and their delightful grandchildren, Caroline Cook, Jack Cook, and Ray
Holt; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated have provided
the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members
have developed and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Holt dedicated nearly 40 years to sales and management in the semitruck
trailer industry and is an accomplished, more than half-century licensed amateur
radio operator who has made contacts in more than 330 countries;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Holt worked as a registered nurse and homemaker and enjoys crafts,
corresponding with family and friends, and giving back to her community through
participating with Meals on Wheels and visiting shut-ins and a wide variety of
other service activities; and
WHEREAS,
active residents of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Mr. and Mrs. Holt resided in Ohio,
Michigan, Florida, and Pennsylvania prior to moving to Georgia and have enjoyed
years of travel together around the United States as well as numerous trips to
Grand Cayman Island; and
WHEREAS, known for their generosity and kindness, Mr. and Mrs. Holt have made the world a better place in which to live, with many contributions to their family, community, and state; and

WHEREAS,
Mr. and Mrs. Holt have been active members of Buford First United Methodist
Church for over 20 years, serving in numerous ministries, assisting in church
administration, and participating in the choir and other areas of music;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. and Mrs. Holt be congratulated on
their many years of happiness and their magnificent 50 year commitment to each
other.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in congratulating James and Meredith Holt on their 50th wedding
anniversary and extend their sincere best wishes for many more happy years
together.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs.
Holt.
