RESOLUTION
Congratulating
the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team on winning the 2009 GISA Class A
State Championship and inviting them to appear before the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Lady Eagles earned the top ranking in the state through perseverance,
determination, and dedication with a 42-39 victory over Fullington Academy on
February 28, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
the GISA Class A championship title-earning win capped an impressive record of
22-6 for the season; and
WHEREAS,
the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding
athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and
spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents;
and the astute direction of Head Coach Keith Jones, Assistant Coach Courtney
Spilman, Team Statistician Beck Maloney, and team managers Marilauren Farr,
Olivia Rogers, Madison Waldal, and Reese Foster; and
WHEREAS,
the 2008-2009 Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team is composed of
talented athletes Joeanna Sams, Haley Stanford, Lauren Duckworth, Samantha Fox,
Millie Foster, Carley Law, Marlee Locke, Kristin Waldal, Alex Barfield, Lauren
Barfield, and Maura Milliron; and
WHEREAS,
as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by
performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition,
it is abundantly proper to call them champions.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate the Terrell Academy Lady Eagles basketball team for
winning the 2009 GISA Class A State Championship and extend their sincerest best
wishes for future success.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the players and coaches of the Terrell Academy Lady
Eagles basketball team are hereby invited to appear before the House of
Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for
purposes of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of
this resolution.
