A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Richard E. and Sarah E. Wood on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Richard E. and Sarah E. Wood were united in love and marriage on May 7, 1961, and will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Wood's 50 year union and unyielding loyalty and devotion to one another serve as an inspiration to their family, friends, and neighbors; and

WHEREAS, known by their friends as Ricky and Pinkie, Mr. and Mrs. Wood grew up in Athens, Georgia, in the 1940's, where they were both educated in the public schools of Athens-Clarke County; and

WHEREAS, both ventured to Atlanta for college, and Mr. Wood attended Morehouse College while Mrs. Wood attended Spelman College; and

WHEREAS, they have been blessed with the love of their remarkable children, Saritha El'Gene, Sherri Elizabeth, and Sherrise; and

WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Wood are the proud grandparents of three wonderful grandchildren, Courtney Jamaal, Shaunya Sade, and Frederick Douglas III; and

WHEREAS, the devotion, patience, and understanding they have demonstrated have provided the foundation and framework of success in which all of their family members have developed and flourished; and

WHEREAS, a couple with deep and abiding faith, the Woods have been members of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for 45 years; and

WHEREAS, known for their generosity and kindness, Mr. and Mrs. Wood have made the world a better place in which to live with many incredible contributions to their family, community, and state; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that Mr. and Mrs. Wood be congratulated on their many years of happiness and their magnificent 50-year commitment to each other.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Richard E. and Sarah E. Wood on the grand occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary and extend to them best wishes for many more happy years together.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. and Mrs. Wood.
