RESOLUTION
Commending
Mrs. Effie Belle Patterson Banks; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Effie Belle Patterson Banks was born on March 28, 1911, in Shady Dale,
Georgia, the beloved daughter of Mamie Bostick Patterson and William Henry
Patterson, and this year she enjoys the rare distinction of celebrating her
100th birthday; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Banks was united in love and marriage to Wallace Landrum Banks in 1929, and
they spent 57 wonderful years together; and
WHEREAS,
she has been blessed with two children, the late Mary Lynn Banks and the late
Wallace Landrum Banks, Jr.; a grandchild, Lynnia Banks Maletz; and a
great-grandchild, Rachel Rose Maletz; and
WHEREAS,
the devotion, patience, and understanding she has demonstrated have provided the
foundation and framework of success in which her family members have developed
and flourished; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Banks was a dedicated employee of Shady Dale Stock Farm in Shady Dale for
45 years, retiring when she was 85 years old; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished gentlewoman has given inspiration to many through her high
ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Banks possesses the vast wisdom which only comes through experience and the
strength of character which is achieved through overcoming the many challenges
of life; and
WHEREAS,
she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness;
and
WHEREAS, a kind and generous woman, Mrs. Banks brings joy and happiness to her many friends, neighbors, and family members who have the great pleasure of knowing her; and

WHEREAS,
by the example Mrs. Banks has made of her life, she makes this world a better
place in which to live, and it is only fitting and proper that she be
appropriately recognized during this very special and memorable time of her
life.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Effie Belle Patterson Banks for her unselfish, dedicated,
and loving service to the members of her family and the citizens of her
community and state; congratulate her on the remarkable occasion of her 100th
birthday; and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Effie
Belle Patterson Banks.
