A RESOLUTION


Congratulating the 2010 Milton High School girls lacrosse team on winning their fifth State Championship in six years and inviting them to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Milton High School girls lacrosse team earned the top ranking in the state for the fifth time in six years; and

WHEREAS, these determined athletes completed their season with a record of 18-1-3, were undefeated against Georgia teams, and made the state finals for the sixth consecutive season; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; and

WHEREAS, the 2010 team is made up of stellar athletes, including five national lacrosse academic All-Americans, three national lacrosse All-Americans, and five All-State Players; and

WHEREAS, the 2010 team was composed of young athletes Bailey Anders, Alexis Barranca, Elizabeth Bunn, Alison Burton, Lydia Cassada, Savannah Costa, Natalie Derajtys, Marissa Hardy, Heather Harman, Amanda Lockwood, Francesca Mowry, Emma Nye, Helen Petersen, Lauren Ragsdale, Rachel Romm, Annie Ruland, Casey Shine, Melissa Teel, Allison Thompson, Allie Ware, and Paige Winsness; and

WHEREAS, the team's spectacular season reflects the astute guidance and direction of Head Coach Tim Godby as well as Assistant Coaches Matt Snyder, Tamra Jeffery, and Brian McMichael; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate the 2010 Milton High School girls lacrosse team for winning the 2010 State Championship and invite them to be recognized by the House of Representatives on an appropriate date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit copies of this resolution to the players and coaches of the 2010 Milton High School girls lacrosse team.
