A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Ms. Laura "Molly" Bickerton and inviting her to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Laura "Molly" Bickerton is the state recipient of the 2008 Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL), the first program of its type in the nation to honor outstanding students in postsecondary technical colleges; and

WHEREAS, GOAL brings together Georgia's business, government, and industry leaders with the state's technical colleges to celebrate the vital impact technical education has on Georgia's workforce, prosperity, and future; and

WHEREAS, for 37 years, the GOAL program has served as an excellent example of a true collaboration of business, industry, and education; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bickerton was selected from among 36 college GOAL winners who have demonstrated excellent academic and leadership ability at their respective technical colleges; and

WHEREAS, a radiologic technology student from Ogeechee Technical College, Ms. Bickerton receives hands-on training to acquire the knowledge and skills that will afford her a secure future in her chosen profession; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bickerton will serve as an ambassador for technical education in Georgia, representing more than 152,000 students benefiting from technical education programs throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, in pursuing her education she has brought honor to herself, her family, her college, and the Technical College System of Georgia which she represents as Georgia's outstanding technical college student for 2008.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Ms. Laura "Molly" Bickerton for her outstanding achievements and her efforts to promote technical education in Georgia and invite her to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time designated by the Speaker of the House.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Bickerton.
