RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Gene Fandel; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Gene Fandel has demonstrated his commitment to improving the lives of young
people and serves as a true role model for Georgia's students; and
WHEREAS,
in 2010, Mr. Fadel began a career pathway program for public safety and
government at Eighth Street Middle School in Tifton, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the program is designed for children to gain an appreciation of government and
the services it provides and exposes students to a variety of guest speakers
from police officers, to politicians, to medevac helicopter pilots who enrich
the students' education; and
WHEREAS,
prior to joining the Eighth Street Middle School team, Mr. Fandel served as the
Emergency Management Agency Director for Cook County, where he helped obtain
grant funds on behalf of the county to assist in an estimated $2 million in
repairs for damages caused by the flood of 2009; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Fandel graduated from Troy University in 2009, where he was a member of the
Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society, volunteered as a coach with the Tift County
Recreation Department, and completed an internship at the Albany Area YMCA;
and
WHEREAS,
he served the citizens of Tifton as a police officer with the Tifton Police
Department from 2004 to 2007, where he won the Education Award and the
Exceptional Service Award; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Gene Fandel for his sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment,
and contributions to students of Georgia and recognize the positive influence he
has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this
state.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Gene
Fandel.
