A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. Ed Bowlin for his induction into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Ed Bowlin took his first flying lesson at the age of 16, and upon his graduation from high school, he joined the Tennessee Air National Guard; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bowlin was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force and flew a variety of aircraft during his 15 years of service before joining Delta Airlines; and

WHEREAS, since 1956, Mr. Bowlin has performed incredible flight demonstrations in air shows, flying historic aircraft in order to educate, inspire, and honor others; and

WHEREAS, an active member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and its Warbirds of America division, Mr. Bowlin was instrumental in establishing the Warbirds in Review program, which reunites prominent aviators with the aircraft they flew; and

WHEREAS, currently residing in Griffin, Georgia, with his loving wife and co-pilot Connie, Mr. Bowlin has written several aviation news articles and worked to improve and highlight pilot training and safety issues; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bowlin is also dedicated to introducing the joy of flight to future generations through his dedicated participation in the Young Eagles Program; and

WHEREAS, on February 14, 2009, Mr. Bowlin will be formally inducted into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame in a ceremony at the Robins Air Force Base Museum of Aviation; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Bowlin is rightfully deserving of admission into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame for his many successes and the example he has set for so many, and it is both fitting and proper that we recognize this great pilot's contribution to Georgia's aviation history.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that this body commends Mr. Ed Bowlin for his induction into the Georgia Aviation Hall of Fame and looks forward to seeing this outstanding Georgian's achievements recognized and recorded into Georgia's aviation history and legacy.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ed Bowlin.
