A
RESOLUTION
Commending
the National FFA Organization and recognizing February 22, 2011, as FFA Day at
the state capitol and February 19 through 26, 2011, as National FFA Week; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the National FFA Organization and agricultural education provide a strong
foundation for the youth of America and the future of the food, fiber, and
natural resource systems; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia FFA association ranks as the third largest state FFA association in
the nation with 30,256 current members; and
WHEREAS,
the FFA promotes premier leadership, personal growth, and career success among
its members; and
WHEREAS,
agricultural education and the FFA ensure a steady supply of young professionals
to meet the growing demands in the science, business, and technology of
agriculture; and
WHEREAS,
the FFA motto, "Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, Living to
serve," gives direction of purpose to these students who take an active role in
succeeding in agricultural education; and
WHEREAS,
the FFA promotes citizenship, volunteerism, patriotism, and cooperation and
increases awareness of the global and technological importance of agriculture
and its contribution to economic and personal vitality.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the National FFA Organization for their contribution to the
welfare of this state and nation and recognize February 22, 2011, as FFA Day at
the state capitol and the week of February 19 through 26, 2011, as National FFA
Week.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the National
FFA Organization.
