A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Deacon DeWayne Walker; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Deacon DeWayne Walker on December 10, 2008; and
WHEREAS,
DeWayne was born on November 2, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana, a beloved son of
Andrew L. And Lou Zelma Holman Walker; and
WHEREAS,
he confessed his faith in Jesus and was baptized at Jerusalem Temple Apostolic
Church in 2003 and was ordained as a deacon the following year; and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, DeWayne Walker was an active member of his
church and was appointed chairman of the deacons and trustee board of directors
in 2007; and
WHEREAS,
as further demonstration of his service to his community, Deacon Walker was the
founder of his church's food pantry and a loyal employee for the Westin hotel
where he worked as a supervisor since 2000; and
WHEREAS,
Deacon DeWayne Walker was united in love and marriage to Ms. Kisha D. Morgan,
and they were blessed with seven remarkable children, Deanna, Gabrielle, Olivia,
DeWayne, DeAndre, Alex, and Allan; and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, DeWayne Walker will long be remembered for his
love of family and friendship, and this loyal gentleman and friend will be
missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Deacon DeWayne Walker and
express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Deacon DeWayne Walker.
