A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Central-Carroll High School Marching Band; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Central-Carroll High School Marching Band has long been recognized for the musical talent of each of its members and the outstanding musical direction and leadership of its director, Neil Ruby; and

WHEREAS, the Marching Pride has been selected to perform in the 122nd Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California, on January, 1, 2011; and

WHEREAS, the Rose Parade is one of the largest and most famous New Year's Day parades in the world, with 1 million spectators and an international audience of over 40 million; and

WHEREAS, the Central-Carroll High School Marching Band is one of only 13 high school bands selected to perform at this prestigious event and the approximately 170 member band will represent Georgia with pride as they march down the famed Orange Grove and Colorado Boulevards; and

WHEREAS, the Carroll-Central Marching Pride is one of the most recognized band programs in the United States, having earned over 300 superior ratings, 200 class placement awards, and 23 Grand Championships over the last 11 years; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the teamwork, dedication, and achievements of this talented and hardworking group of young men and women be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize the outstanding musical talent and abilities of each member of the Central-Carroll High School Marching Band, congratulate them upon their incredible honor of being selected to perform in the 2011 Tournament of Roses Parade, and extend to them best wishes on a successful performance.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Central-Carroll High School Marching Band Director Neil Ruby.
