RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mrs. Mattie Wilcox Ivy on the occasion of her 104th birthday; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Mattie Wilcox Ivy is the oldest member of the Irwin County Branch of the
NAACP and citizen of Ocilla, Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she has served as a drum major for education and professional and personal
excellence in making Ocilla and Irwin County a better place to live, work, grow,
and serve; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Ivy has served with distinction and honor as a nurse and educator, whose
nursing skills, love for and care of patients, and professional knowledge
transcended racial boundaries as she expertly treated and assisted both black
and white patients; and
WHEREAS,
she was recognized and congratulated by the mayor and citizens of Ocilla and
Irwin County as a Distinguished Citizen in 2004; and
WHEREAS,
she is the family matriarch and truly exemplifies good health, peace, joy,
success, and love; and
WHEREAS,
is it abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
truly phenomenal woman be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mrs. Mattie Wilcox Ivy for her effective, efficient,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of Ocilla, Irwin County,
and the State of Georgia; congratulate her on the grand occasion of her 104th
birthday; and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Mattie
Wilcox Ivy.
