A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Julie Carmichael Pierce Tomlinson; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Mrs. Julie Carmichael Pierce Tomlinson on December 7, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Tomlinson was born on May 23, 1947, in Waycross, Georgia, a beloved daughter of the late Dr. Lovick Wilson Pierce and Julia Carmichael Bell Pierce; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Mrs. Tomlinson was an active member of First United Methodist Church; and

WHEREAS, active in her community, Mrs. Tomlinson was a member of the chancel choir and served on the administrative council and as a lay delegate to the South Georgia Annual Conference; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Tomlinson was united in love and marriage to Dr. Ronald Lloyd Tomlinson, and together they were blessed with three remarkable children, Christopher Lloyd Tomlinson, Steven Pierce Tomlinson, and Kelly Carmichael Tomlinson, and six wonderful grandchildren, Julia Katherine Gomez, Andrew Javier Gomez, Christopher Carmichael Gomez, Kathleen Carmichael Tomlinson, Adalyn Grace Tomlinson, and Luke Lloyd Tomlinson; and

WHEREAS, she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example she made of her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous woman, Mrs. Tomlinson will long be remembered for her love of family and friendship, and this faithful daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing her.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Julie Carmichael Pierce Tomlinson and express their deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mrs. Julie Carmichael Pierce Tomlinson.
