A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. John Barnes on the occasion of his retirement; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. John Barnes has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the
vital role that he has played in the teaching profession and his deep personal
commitment to the education of the students of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Barnes earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the University
of Georgia and received master's level certification in agriculture education;
and
WHEREAS,
this amazing educator has dedicated 42 years to molding young minds and
challenging students to achieve their utmost potential through his work in the
Gilmer County School System; and
WHEREAS,
he has led the Gilmer County Future Farmers of America (FFA) Program to numerous
state and national honors, including three Star Chapter and Gold Emblem Awards,
State Chapter Achievement, and Outstanding FFA Alumni Affiliate Honors;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Barnes has earned many accolades and honors in recognition of his dedicated
service to the field of education, including Teacher of the Year for Gilmer
County, Georgia Agriculture Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding Georgia FFA
Alumni Member; and
WHEREAS,
he has enriched and improved the lives of countless future leaders, serving as
the Gilmer County Young Farmer Advisor since the program's inception and serving
as a member of the Georgia FFA Alumni Council and the Georgia FFA Foundation
since the programs began; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Barnes has taught hundreds of Georgia Planter degree recipients and a large
number of American Farmer degree recipients ; and
WHEREAS,
in addition to teaching for over four decades, Mr. Barnes operates a cow-calf
operation in Pickens County and serves as a trustee of the Hinton United
Methodist Church; and
WHEREAS,
in recognition of his contributions to the students in this state, it is
abundantly fitting and proper for this body to honor the extraordinary
commitment and accomplishments of this outstanding individual.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body heartily and gratefully commend Mr. John Barnes for his over four
decades of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of
education in Georgia; recognize him for the positive influence he has had upon
the lives and futures of countless young people in this state; and extend to him
best wishes on a healthy and happy retirement.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. John
Barnes.
