A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Honorable Olagunsoye Oyinlola; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Honorable Olagunsoye Oyinlola was born on February 3, 1951, in Okuku, Odo
Otin, into the royal Oyinlola family, the beloved son of the late Oba Moses
Oyewole Oyinlola and the late Olori Comfort Ololade Oyinlola; and
WHEREAS,
Prince Oyinlola completed his primary education at St. Michael's Primary School
in Okuku and earned a West African School Certificate from Odo-Otin Grammar
School before he enlisted in the Nigerian Army; and
WHEREAS,
after attending the Nigerian Defense Academy, he was commissioned as an officer
in the Armoured Corps of the Nigerian Army at the age of 20; and
WHEREAS,
affectionately known as "Lagun" by his family, Prince Oyinlola earned a diploma
in international relations from the Obafemi Awolowo University, a master of
science degree in defense studies from the University of Madras in India, a
master's degree in strategic studies from the University of Ibadan, and a law
degree from Buckingham University; and
WHEREAS,
an accomplished military leader, Prince Oyinlola attended the National War
College, where he was awarded the Fellowship of the War College, and served as
Troop Leader, Squadron Leader, Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander, Acting
General Officer Commanding, and Military Administrator; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished gentleman be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Honorable Olagunsoye Oyinlola on his numerous
achievements and commend his efficient, effective, and committed
leadership.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Honorable
Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
