A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce for developing community leaders; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce has continuously developed community leaders since 1986 by sponsoring the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield program; and

WHEREAS, the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield program was developed and founded by 16 community leaders, who were recognized during the 25th Silver Anniversary Founders Ball; and

WHEREAS, the visionaries who founded Leadership Dalton-Whitfield are Jack Bandy, Ken Boring, Norman Burkett, Jim Jolly, Charles Pannell, DeForrest Parrott, Carl Rollins, Julian Saul, Bob Shaw, Joe Stubbs, George Sutherland, Frank Thomason, Charles Van Rysselberge,
Lenard Whaley, and the late James Brown and Shirley Lorberbaum; and

WHEREAS, the goal of the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield program is to develop informed leaders and channel their ideas and experiences toward community resources, issues, and concerns to help direct the future of Dalton and Whitfield County; and

WHEREAS, through the program's informal discussions and participatory experiences, participants in the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield program develop the skills and connections necessary to thrive as a community leader; and

WHEREAS, 2010 marks the 25th Silver Anniversary of the founding of Leadership Dalton-Whitfield with over 800 alumni who have been trained to become involved in the community and take an active role in making a difference.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce and Leadership Dalton-Whitfield on 25 years of shaping the future leaders of Whitfield County and the State of Georgia.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce.
