A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mrs. Phyllis Thompson upon the occasion of her retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mrs. Phyllis Thompson has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her 34 years of superlative service with Elbert County; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson has served in many positions for Elbert County throughout her career, serving under one county chairman, seven county managers, 27 county commissioners, and as an interim county manager four times; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Thompson was united in love and marriage to Michael Thompson on February 23, 1980, and the couple has been blessed with two remarkable sons, Nicholas and Benjamin; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mrs. Phyllis Thompson for her over three decades of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to Elbert County; congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs. Phyllis Thompson.
