RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Sumter County; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sumter County is one of the counties that has timely submitted a comprehensive
Child Abuse Protocol to the Office of the Child Advocate for the Protection of
Children in accordance with Georgia law; and
WHEREAS,
Sumter County has developed a Child Abuse Protocol Committee whose mission is to
write, review, and establish the protocol document, outlining in detail the
procedures to be used in investigating and prosecuting cases arising from
alleged child abuse and the methods to be used in coordinating treatment
programs for the child and family; and
WHEREAS,
Sumter County's Child Abuse Protocol Committee works to coordinate the efforts
of all agencies, which investigate, treat, and manage cases of child abuse and
neglect; and
WHEREAS,
the Office of the Child Advocate for the Protection of Children acknowledges
Sumter County for its collective work on behalf of children in its county by
working together as one community with law enforcement, mental health, public
health, the Department of Family and Child Services, the district attorney,
county board of education, coroner, board of health, court appointed special
advocates, and magistrate, juvenile, state, and superior courts;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
community be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Sumter County for the development of its Child Abuse Protocol
that follows the state model and its work in making Georgia a safer place for
children.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Sumter County Child Abuse Protocol Committee.
