RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Sydnie Pike for being selected as the 2012 Children's Miracle
Network Champion Across America Ambassador; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Sydnie Pike has been selected as the 2012 Children's Miracle Network Champion
Across America Ambassador for the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Sydnie has Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome, a disease that occurs in approximately
one in 50,000 births; and
WHEREAS,
the syndrome affects many parts of the body, particularly the pancreas, bone
marrow, and skeleton, leaving those with this rare condition to face such issues
as short stature, vitamin deficiency, and malabsorption; and
WHEREAS,
Sydnie visits The Medical Center once every six weeks for an all day IVIG
treatment, a treatment used in immune deficiency that supplies antibodies where
the body does not make enough; and
WHEREAS,
Sydnie is responding well to the treatments, maintaining a positive, upbeat, and
thankful attitude, and she attends school every day where she is a straight A
student, plays outside, and enjoys life as a healthy ten-year-old;
and
WHEREAS,
Sydnie has been recognized with numerous achievement and academic awards and
enjoys cooking with her mother, arts and crafts, playing with her dogs, and
listening to her country music favorites, Taylor Swift and Toby Keith;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this extraordinary young lady be
appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Sydnie Pike for her strong, positive, and upbeat spirit and
extend to her their sincere best wishes for continued health and
happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Sydnie Pike.
