RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Dr. Sandra B. Reed; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Dr. Sandra B. Reed earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia
in Augusta; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Reed conducted her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at
the Medical College of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she specializes in minimally invasive surgery and pelvic reconstructive surgery;
and
WHEREAS,
she cares for her patients at the Shaw Center for Women's Health in Thomasville;
and
WHEREAS,
she was installed as the Medical Association of Georgia's 159th president during
its House of Delegates meeting in 2011 and is only the second woman to serve as
president; and
WHEREAS,
she has enhanced communities with lectures on health and has served on numerous
educational boards and committees; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Reed has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the medical profession
throughout her career, including leadership roles with the Medical Association
of Georgia and the Practicing Physicians Advisory Council for the Centers for
Medicare and Medicaid Services; and
WHEREAS,
Dr. Reed is an effective advocate for patients, especially in the area of
preventive services for women.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Dr. Sandra B. Reed for her many contributions to the welfare
of the citizens of this state and extend to her their sincere best wishes for
the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Sandra B.
Reed.
