A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Liberian Consul General Cynthia B. Nash; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
there is a bond of friendship between the citizens of Georgia and Africa, and
the people of Georgia welcome opportunities to grow our already deep
relationship at all levels, including cultural, academic, and business;
and
WHEREAS,
Consul General Cynthia B. Nash has long been recognized for her role in
leadership and her deep personal commitment to fostering diplomatic
relationships with countries around the world; and
WHEREAS,
Consul General Nash served as CEO of the Atlanta-based trade and nonprofit
consultancy Global Strategies for Good before assuming her position as Consul
General to Liberia in August of 2009; and
WHEREAS,
as Consul General, Ms. Nash handles consular services for Liberian citizens
throughout the Southeast and has the authority to grant visas to Americans
wishing to travel to Liberia; and
WHEREAS,
Consul General Nash is diligently and conscientiously working on establishing
cultural programs that promote the history of Liberia and its ties with the
United States; and
WHEREAS,
it is in the best interest of this state to increase these mutually beneficial
economic ties by attracting, retaining, and growing Liberian economic
investments, businesses, and operations in this state; and
WHEREAS,
it is the desire of this body to encourage greater collaborations and exchanges
between Georgia and Liberia in fields of scientific research, education,
business, and culture.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body hereby recognize the special friendship between Georgia and Liberia
and express our appreciation to Cynthia B. Nash, the Consul General of Liberia,
for her efforts to promote peace and grow commercial, cultural, and educational
ties between our two nations.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Consul
General Cynthia B. Nash.
