RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Leonard Santangelo; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Leonard Santangelo was born on July 8, 1919, in Brooklyn, New York;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Santangelo has long been recognized by the citizens of this nation for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Santangelo began his military career with the United States Army in April of
1941, during which time he served in World War II, survived Pearl Harbor, and
earned the rank of corporal, retiring on July 15, 1945; and
WHEREAS,
he received numerous honors, including the American Defense Medal with one
Bronze Star, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal;
and
WHEREAS,
an active member of his community, Mr. Santangelo has served on the Executive
Board of American Legion Post 145 for 27 years; and
WHEREAS,
a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Santangelo is an usher and counter at St.
Theresa's Roman Catholic Church; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Santangelo embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in
something greater than himself, and his service as a guardian of this nation's
freedom and liberty is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Leonard Santangelo for his efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of his country and
extend to him their most profound appreciation for him and all members of the
United States military who stand ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon
the altar of freedom.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Leonard
Santangelo.
