A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Deputy Davy Wayne "Dave" Crawford; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Deputy Davy Wayne "Dave" Crawford on February 12, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Crawford was born on February 16, 1955, in Carrollton, Georgia, a beloved son of Reverend Stanley Luther Crawford and Bernell Brown Crawford and grandson of the late Floyd and Stella Crawford and the late Lewis and Zada Brown; and

WHEREAS, beginning with a childhood dream to protect and serve, Deputy Crawford dedicated over three decades to law enforcement, beginning his career with the Coweta County Sheriff's Department as a dispatcher; and

WHEREAS, he valiantly and courageously protected the people of Georgia as a law enforcement officer, serving in the Coweta County and Carroll County Sheriff's Departments; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Crawford was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Candy, and was blessed with the love of their dogs, Huey and Lucy, whom he greatly adored; and

WHEREAS, a talented country music artist, Deputy Crawford was the opening act for country music legend Ernest Tubb at a show in Newnan, Georgia, and performed throughout the 1980's with his band, the Wahoo Creek Rangers Band; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Crawford was highly regarded as a person of unquestioned integrity, dedicated to the sound principles of law enforcement, and a devoted, effective, and efficient public servant; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Deputy Crawford will long be remembered for his love of country music, family, and friendship, and this loyal husband, brother, neighbor, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Deputy Davy Wayne "Dave" Crawford and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Deputy Davy Wayne "Dave" Crawford.
