RESOLUTION
Commending
The Links, Incorporated, and recognizing March 10, 2010, as Links Day at the
state capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
The Links, Incorporated, is a nonprofit organization composed of more than
12,000 women of African heritage living in the United States and abroad who are
committed to devoting their talents and resources to improving the quality of
life for others; and
WHEREAS,
founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1946, The Links, Incorporated, has 270
chapters nation-wide with 15 chapters in Georgia, representing 600 members in
every major city; and
WHEREAS,
on March 10, 2010, members of The Links, Incorporated, across the country will
gather at their state capitols to encourage support for legislation and programs
designed to address the growing epidemic of childhood obesity and its causes;
and
WHEREAS,
the outstanding service The Links, Incorporated, provides to local communities
and throughout the nation is worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend The Links, Incorporated, for its work to improve the quality
of life in this state and nation and recognize March 10, 2010, as Links Day at
the state capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to The Links,
Incorporated.
