A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending John Edwards; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most important objective of the General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, John Edwards has shown by the example of his academic accomplishments that the pursuit and attainment of scholastic success are within the reach of the students in this state; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable scholar has earned distinction through his selection as Jackson County Comprehensive High School's 2010 STAR Student; and

WHEREAS, actively involved in leadership roles at his school, John is a member of the Beta Club, Tri-M, Jazz 1, and marching band; and

WHEREAS, John has been recognized with numerous honors and awards, including the AP Scholar with Honor Award, the Certificate of Excellence in 11th Grade English, the Georgia Certificate of Merit, and first place in the Recurve Division of the 2009 Godfrey Memorial Archery Tournament; and

WHEREAS, John plans to continue his education at either the Georgia Institute of Technology or Massachusetts Institute of Technology, hoping to study physics or computer engineering; and

WHEREAS, he has personified the selfless dedication, mental agility, verbal adroitness, and personal maturity necessary for superlative academic performance; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this bright and promising young citizen.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body heartily commend John Edwards for his spectacular scholastic endeavors, recognize him for being named Jackson County Comprehensive High School's STAR Student for 2010, and express to him their sincerest best wishes for continued academic success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to John Edwards.
