RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Ms. Valerie Marie Brown on the occasion of her retirement; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Ms. Valerie Marie Brown has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep personal
commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated public servant has diligently and conscientiously devoted three
decades of her time, talents, and energy to improving the lives of her fellow
citizens working for the State of Georgia in government services;
and
WHEREAS,
she worked with the Department of Corrections/Offender Rehabilitation from
1974-1975, the Department of Labor/Appeals Section from 1975-1986, the
Governor's Office of Highway Safety from 1992-1995 and 1997-2004, the Department
of Corrections/ Specialized Supervision from 1995-1997, the Department of Family
and Children Services from 2005-2006, the Department of Public Safety/SWAT Unit
from 2006-2008, and the Department of Public Safety/Capitol Police from
2008-2012; and
WHEREAS,
she was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1973;
and
WHEREAS,
she is blessed with one remarkable son, Marlon D. Brown; and
WHEREAS,
her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience
and diplomacy, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state
have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the extraordinary accomplishments of
this distinguished Georgian be appropriately
recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Valerie Marie Brown for her three decades of outstanding, efficient, and effective service to the State of Georgia, congratulate her on her retirement, and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Valerie Marie Brown for her three decades of outstanding, efficient, and effective service to the State of Georgia, congratulate her on her retirement, and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Valerie
Marie Brown.
