A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Miss Dacula Sweetheart 2011 Megan Chesne; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Megan Chesne has shown by the example of her academic accomplishments and extracurricular involvement that the pursuit and attainment of excellence are within the reach of the students in this state; and

WHEREAS, a senior at Dacula High School, Megan recently earned the prestigious title of Miss Dacula Sweetheart 2011; and

WHEREAS, committed to uplifting the lives of others through service to her community, Megan has been an active volunteer with the Gwinnett County Relay for Life, Gwinnett County's Bark in the Park, Gwinnett County Special Olympics, and Lawrenceville Cooperative Ministry; and

WHEREAS, Megan is a peer leader at Dacula High School where she volunteers with the Teacher of the Year Reception and Open House; and

WHEREAS, during her reign as Miss Dacula Sweetheart, Megan has volunteered over 250 hours of community service and is in line to receive a gold medal from the President's Council on Civic Service and Volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, all Georgians are proud of young people who, like Megan, represent the very best that this state has to offer; and

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks forward with great anticipation to the promising and bright future of this remarkable young citizen.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Megan Chesne on being named Miss Dacula Sweetheart 2011 and extend to her their best wishes for her near and distant future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Miss Dacula Sweetheart 2011 Megan Chesne.
