A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Rome Judicial Circuit and inviting them to be recognized by
the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Rome Judicial Circuit was named the 2008 Child Fatality Investigation Team
of the Year; and
WHEREAS,
the Rome Judicial Circuit has long been recognized by the citizens of this state
for the vital role it plays in leadership and the deep personal commitment of
its staff to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
they have diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of time,
talent, and exemplary collaboration for the betterment of their community and
state as evidenced dramatically by their gold standard in homicide
investigations involving cold and new cases; and
WHEREAS,
this dedicated team collaborated with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta to
develop and promulgate protocol to be utilized in head trauma cases involving
children; and
WHEREAS,
communication was fostered with primary stakeholders, including the local
hospital, to ensure that proper homicide investigations were being conducted and
were universally accepted within the jurisdiction, a process that will be
instrumental in the development of the new state model for the protocol of child
death investigations; and
WHEREAS,
the Rome Judicial Circuit team has served as mentors to less experienced teams
from other jurisdictions, lending assistance at trials when needed, and has
provided invaluable assets to this state, especially during this time of limited
resources; and
WHEREAS,
the Rome Judicial Circuit's demonstration of outstanding leadership and
mentoring skills has earned it the recognition of being named the 2008 Child
Fatality Investigation Team of the year, and the State of Georgia is honored to
have such a motivated and hard-working team.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend the Rome Judicial Circuit for its efficient, effective,
unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and the
commitment of its staff to using a multidisciplinary investigative
approach.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Rome Judicial Circuit is invited to be recognized
by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the
Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Rome
Judicial Circuit representative.
