A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Robert Howard; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Robert Howard on September 4, 2009; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Howard diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as
evidenced dramatically by his 30 years of superlative service with the Augusta
Richmond County Recreation and Parks Department where he served with honor and
distinction as assistant director; and
WHEREAS,
a tireless civil servant, Mr. Howard was a 1969 graduate of T.W. Josey High
School and attended Savannah State University; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Howard was a lifetime member of the NAACP, holding numerous leadership
positions and serving in an instrumental role in the annual Martin Luther King,
Jr., Day Parade; and
WHEREAS,
he was an active member of the Deacon Ministry of First Mount Moriah Baptist
Church, was an honorary member of The Buffalo Soldiers, and uplifted others
through his work with Meals on Wheels and the Fan and Air Conditioner GiveAways;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Howard was united in love and marriage to his adoring wife, Georgia, and was
blessed with the love of three children, Tangy, Robbie, and Demargo, and three
stepchildren, Tiffani, Patrice, and Terrence; and
WHEREAS,
he was the proud grandfather of seven, Kennedy, Shelby, McKinley, DeMargo,
Marquail, Jada, and Oshon; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a kind and generous man, Mr. Howard will long be remembered for his love of
gospel music, family, and friendship, and this loyal husband, father, brother,
and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mr. Robert Howard and express
their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Mr. Robert Howard.
