A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Steven A. Ratkitt; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Steven A. Ratkitt has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ratkitt graduated from Rutgers College and holds advanced degrees from the Baltimore Hebrew College, the University of Maryland, and the University of Rhode Island; and

WHEREAS, he has served as president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta since 2000 and has recently accepted a position as executive vice president and CEO of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, D.C., where he will serve the sixth largest Jewish community in America; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ratkitt began his career in 1978 as an intern with Associated Jewish Charities in Baltimore and went on to serve as senior professional of the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and executive vice president of the Jewish Federation of Atlanta; and

WHEREAS, during Mr. Ratkitt's tenure with the Jewish Federation of Atlanta, the annual fund campaign drive reached $18 million, and the Federation endowment assets reached $102 million; and

WHEREAS, under Mr. Ratkitt's leadership, the Federation created the highly successful Create a Jewish Legacy program to assist Jewish community organizations to provide future leaders with community support, training programs, and programs designed to raise funds for Federation endowment programs; and

WHEREAS, in 2010, Mr. Ratkitt led a fund drive that raised $2 million to assist Jewish children in gaining access to Jewish education programs; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ratkitt has served with honor and distinction with the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon his move to Washington; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Steven A. Ratkitt for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta; congratulate him on his new assignment; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Steven A. Ratkitt.
