RESOLUTION
Recognizing
Edo Miller Park; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Edo Miller Park was dedicated in 1952 in honor of Edo Miller, a long-time and
well-respected supporter of baseball in Glynn County; and
WHEREAS,
Edo Miller Park was the home of minor league affiliates for the Pittsburgh
Pirates and Philadelphia Phillies of the Georgia Florida Class D League in the
1950s; and
WHEREAS,
since 1963, the ball park has been used by the Glynn Academy and Brunswick High
School baseball teams which occupy the park today; and
WHEREAS,
celebrating its 60th year, a ceremony will be held at Edo Miller Park to
recognize and celebrate the many teams and hundreds of baseball players who
played over the years; and
WHEREAS,
this magnificent park earned its well-deserved reputation for being a place
where hundreds of people have come to play the classic game of baseball, and the
teams who have played there over the decades are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize Edo Miller Park and the memories that baseball teams have
created there on the occasion of its 60th year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the public
and the press.
