RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Genene Smith; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Genene Smith on September 18, 2011; and
WHEREAS,
Genene was born on November 9, 1943, in New Holland a beloved daughter to the
late Talmer and Mary Merelene Clark Adams; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Genene was an active member of the New
Holland Baptist Church in New Holland where she also worked as a secretary for
20 years; and
WHEREAS,
Genene was united in love and marriage to Charles Smith and was blessed with two
remarkable sons, Trent Smith and Andy Smith, nine wonderful grandchildren, and
three adored great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS,
she gave inspiration to many through her high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for her fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding she
demonstrated to her family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
she was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness, and by the example she made of
her life, she made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous woman, Genene Smith will long be remembered for her
love of family and friendship, and this loyal wife, mother, daughter,
grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend will be missed by all who had the
fortune of knowing her.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Genene Smith and express their
deepest and most sincere regret at her passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of
Genene Smith.
