A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ty McCormack on winning a Gold Medal at the USATF Junior Olympics National Cross Country Chamionships; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, on December 12, 2009, Ty McCormack earned a Gold Medal at the 2009 USATF Junior Olympics National Cross Country Championships in Reno, Nevada, after completing the five kilometer course in 16 minutes and seven seconds; and

WHEREAS, a senior at North Hall High School, Ty led the Trojan Cross Country team to Hall County and Region championship titles and a fourth place finish at the Georgia High School Cross Country Championships; and

WHEREAS, Ty earned acclaim for Georgia before the national competition by earning the title of Region 3 Young Men's Champion and finishing 13th in the 2009 Foot Locker South Regional Cross Country Championships with his personal best of 15 minutes and five seconds; and

WHEREAS, he has been a leader for the Lanier Running Club's Young Men's Team and was instrumental in the team's Region 3 Junior Olympic title in 2009 with his first place finish; and

WHEREAS, this stellar young man epitomizes the courage, determination, leadership, and character necessary to attain excellence in athletic prowess and performance; and

WHEREAS, his months of training and perfecting his breathing, stride, and stamina have been rewarded with his impressive win and earned him the respect and admiration of his teammates and competitors; and

WHEREAS, it is clearly fitting and proper that the superlative abilities of this accomplished and gifted athlete, as well as the pride, honor, and respect he has brought himself, his school, and his community, be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ty McCormack for his unprecedented athletic performance, congratulate him upon his national title, and extend to him sincere best wishes for success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ty McCormack.
