A RESOLUTION


Recognizing the Warner Robins American Little League softball team for winning the Softball World Series and inviting the team and coaches to appear before the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Warner Robins American Little League softball team demonstrated a feat of greatness with a 14-2, four-inning victory over Crawford, Texas, to clinch the 2009 Softball World Series Championship; and

WHEREAS, the team traveled to Portland, Oregon, in August, 2009, to prove to the country that their program was a force to be reckoned with; and

WHEREAS, while aggressive base running and great defense helped advance the Warner Robins American Little League softball team to the finals, it was superb offense and hard hits that earned them the title of national champions; and

WHEREAS, by sending an incredible 26 batters to the plate in the first three innings, Warner Robins scored twice in the first inning and six times each in the second and third innings; and

WHEREAS, during the championship game, two Warner Robins players, Carson Carriker and Caityln Parker, went three-for-three at the plate, while pitcher Kaylee Albritton dominated on the mound; and

WHEREAS, pushing these athletes to achieve mental and physical toughness, Manager Emily Whaley displayed astute direction, dedication, and determination; and

WHEREAS, this magnificent team performed with precision throughout the season and have come to earn their well-deserved reputation for high standards of athletic achievement, quality of play, and superior sportsmanship.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Warner Robins American Little League softball team for its unparalleled achievements, congratulate the players and coaches on their national title, and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Warner Robins American Little League softball team is invited to appear before the House of Representatives at a date and time to be fixed by the Speaker of the House for the purpose of being recognized by the House and receiving an appropriate copy of this resolution.
