Florida Senate - 2018 (NP) SR 1836 By Senator Campbell 38-01359A-18 20181836__ 1 Senate Resolution 2 A resolution recognizing the Village of El Portal on 3 the occasion of the 81st anniversary of its 4 incorporation. 5 6 WHEREAS, the Village of El Portal was incorporated in 1937 7 and now boasts a population of more than 2,500 in an area of 8 approximately 0.6 square miles, and 9 WHEREAS, the Village of El Portal is home to Indian Mound, 10 the first archeological site in Miami-Dade County to be 11 preserved, which is located on the northern bank of the Little 12 River, just south of Village Hall, and 13 WHEREAS, the ancient Tequesta Indian Mound was designated a 14 United States Bicentennial Historic Site and as a public park in 15 the 1920s, and 16 WHEREAS, the Village of El Portal Council is led by Mayor 17 Claudia V. Cubillos and Vice Mayor Omarr C. Nickerson, and 18 residents are represented by councilpersons Werner Dreher, 19 Harold E. Mathis, Jr., and Vimari Roman, and the Interim Village 20 Manager is Christia Alou, NOW, THEREFORE, 21 22 Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida: 23 24 That the Village of El Portal is recognized on the occasion 25 of the 81st anniversary of its incorporation.
