Florida Senate - 2010 CS for SB 1724 By the Committee on Commerce; and Senator Dean 577-04354-10 20101724c1 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to rural enterprise zones; requiring 3 the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development 4 to designate certain rural catalyst sites as rural 5 enterprise zones upon request of a host county; 6 specifying request requirements; specifying effect of 7 designation; specifying reporting requirements for 8 rural catalyst sites designated as a rural enterprise 9 zone; specifying a reporting entity; providing an 10 effective date. 11 12 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 13 14 Section 1. Notwithstanding s. 290.0065(1), Florida 15 Statutes, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic 16 Development, upon request of the host county, shall designate as 17 a rural enterprise zone any catalyst site as defined in s. 18 288.0656(2)(b), Florida Statutes, which was approved prior to 19 January 1, 2010, and which is not located in an existing rural 20 enterprise zone. The request from the host county must include 21 the legal description of the catalyst site and the name and 22 contact information for the county development authority 23 responsible for managing the catalyst site. The designation 24 shall provide businesses locating within the catalyst site the 25 same eligibility for economic incentives and other benefits of a 26 rural enterprise zone designated under s. 290.0065, Florida 27 Statutes, and the reporting criteria for a catalyst site 28 designated as a rural enterprise zone under this section are the 29 same as for other rural enterprise zones. Host county 30 development authorities may enter into memoranda of agreement, 31 as necessary, to coordinate their efforts to implement this 32 section. 33 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2010.
