    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to translation services; creating s.
    3         29.25, F.S.; authorizing courts to contract with a
    4         third-party translation service provider to provide
    5         translation services; providing that such services may
    6         be made available to any party requesting them,
    7         regardless of whether represented by counsel;
    8         providing construction; providing that a court is not
    9         required to provide translation services; providing an
   10         effective date.
   11          
   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Section 29.25, Florida Statutes, is created to
   15  read:
   16         29.25Translation services.—
   17         (1)A court may contract with a third-party translation
   18  service provider for translation services for civil cases.
   19         (2)Translation services may be made available to any party
   20  requesting such services, regardless of whether the party is
   21  represented by counsel.
   22         (3)Nothing in this section may be construed to prohibit a
   23  party from providing for his or her own translation service or
   24  third-party translation service provider.
   25         (4)The provision of translation services under this
   26  section is an optional court-related function, and nothing in
   27  this section requires a court to provide such services.
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2024.
