    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to the Correctional Education Program;
    3         amending s. 944.801, F.S.; requiring the Correctional
    4         Education Program under the Department of Corrections
    5         to ensure that an inmate who completes an examination
    6         or any other training requirements for a certain
    7         profession receives licensure credit or the license if
    8         all requirements are met; requiring the department to
    9         develop a plan to provide classes and work programs
   10         which enable inmates to prepare for and complete
   11         examinations for a licensed profession and receive
   12         training related to such profession; providing an
   13         effective date.
   14          
   15  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   16  
   17         Section 1. Paragraph (m) is added to subsection (3) of
   18  section 944.801, Florida Statutes, to read:
   19         944.801 Education for state prisoners.—
   20         (3) The responsibilities of the Correctional Education
   21  Program shall be to:
   22         (m) Ensure that an inmate who completes an examination or
   23  any other training requirements for a profession that is
   24  regulated by the Department of Business and Professional
   25  Regulation and requires licensure receives licensure credit or
   26  the license if all requirements are met. The department shall
   27  develop a plan to provide classes and work programs which enable
   28  inmates to prepare for and complete examinations for a licensed
   29  profession and receive training related to that profession.
   30         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2018.
