    2         An act relating to child care facilities; amending s.
    3         402.305, F.S.; requiring minimum standards for a
    4         written plan for the daily provision of varied
    5         activities at a child care facility to include
    6         requirements for the appropriate use of confining
    7         equipment, periods of physical activity, and limited
    8         screen time; requiring the Department of Children and
    9         Family Services to adopt rules; providing an effective
   10         date.

   12  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   13  
   14         Section 1. Subsection (13) of section 402.305, Florida
   15  Statutes, is amended to read:
   16         402.305 Licensing standards; child care facilities.—
   17         (13) PLAN OF ACTIVITIES.—Minimum standards shall ensure
   18  that each child care facility has and implements a written plan
   19  for the daily provision of varied activities and active and
   20  quiet play opportunities appropriate to the age of the child.
   21  Minimum standards must include requirements for the appropriate
   22  use of confining equipment, periods of physical activity, and
   23  limited screen time, as defined in rule by the department. The
   24  written plan must include a program, to be implemented
   25  periodically for children of an appropriate age, which will
   26  assist the children in preventing and avoiding physical and
   27  mental abuse.
   28         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2012.
