    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to concealed weapons or firearms;
    3         creating s. 790.062, F.S.; providing for otherwise
    4         qualified members and veterans of the United States
    5         Armed Forces to be issued a concealed weapon or
    6         firearm license regardless of age or United States
    7         residency in certain circumstances; providing
    8         additional methods for the taking of fingerprints from
    9         such license applicants; providing an effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Section 790.062, Florida Statutes, is created to
   14  read:
   15         790.062 Members and veterans of United States Armed Forces;
   16  exceptions from licensure provisions.—
   17         (1) Notwithstanding s. 790.06(2)(a) and (b), the Department
   18  of Agriculture and Consumer Services shall issue a license to
   19  carry a concealed weapon or firearm under s. 790.06 if the
   20  applicant is otherwise qualified and:
   21         (a) Is a servicemember, as defined in s. 250.01; or
   22         (b) Is a veteran of the United States Armed Forces who was
   23  discharged under honorable conditions.
   24         (2) The Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services
   25  shall accept fingerprints of an applicant under this section
   26  administered by any law enforcement agency, military provost, or
   27  other military unit charged with law enforcement duties or as
   28  otherwise provided for in s. 790.06(5)(c).
   29         Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
