Florida Senate - 2013 SB 1202 By Senator Soto 14-00700-13 20131202__ 1 A bill to be entitled 2 An act relating to credit card solicitations on 3 college campuses; prohibiting the solicitation of 4 credit cards on Florida College System institutions or 5 state university campuses; providing an effective 6 date. 7 8 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida: 9 10 Section 1. Credit card solicitation prohibited.—The 11 advertising, marketing, or merchandising of credit cards is 12 prohibited on the campus of a Florida College System institution 13 or state university. 14 (1) This includes, but is not limited to, advertising or 15 soliciting at campus vendor tables and posting or distributing 16 applications, fliers, posters, and handbills and signage, 17 electronic and otherwise, in an institution or university 18 facility. The college’s e-mail system or web pages may not be 19 used for advertising or soliciting credit cards to students. 20 (2) Banks, credit unions, and other businesses approved to 21 be present at student orientations during the weeks leading up 22 to the opening of the institution or university or other campus 23 activities may not provide credit card applications to students 24 during those events. 25 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
